AP for All

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are some of the most rigorous courses at the High School for Public Service. As an AP for All school, HSPS is committed to providing equity and access in our AP courses. To do this, we have removed traditional barriers to student entry into AP courses, which included: GPA, test scores, pre-AP course grades, teacher recommendations, and guidance counselor recommendations.

The sole academic requirement is that students be on track with regards to credits in the subject in which they are interested in taking an AP course. In addition to that requirement, student enrollment in an AP course is based on the following:

  • Submission of a signed AP Family Contract

  • Student Self-Identified Survey Results

  • Peer Recommendations

AP Courses Offered Include:

(1) AP Biology, (2) AP Computer Science Principles, (3) AP Calculus A/B, (4) AP English Language & Composition, (5) AP English Literature & Composition, (6) AP Environmental Science, (7) AP Physics, (8) AP Statistics, (9) AP United States Government & Politics, (10) AP United States History, (11) AP World History
